Orco S.A. travelled all the way to Riga, Latvia, for the Elia Together 2024 conference in February 22-23!

The theme of the conference was Perfect Harmony and the focus was both on improving the ways language professionals collaborate and also on mastering the use of new technologies to meet market needs.

This year’s presentations were divided into two tracks:

Track A – We Are on the Same Side in which the valuable role of technology in our industry was examined; topics discussed included MTPE, AI and machine learning, personal branding, automation and chatbots

Track B – Let’s Meet in the Middle that addressed matters of effective communication and understanding in today’s digital landscape, managing our online presence blueprint, quality assurance techniques, vendor management challenges, freelancers’ mental health,  finding common ground and working harmoniously with our counterparts and partners.

Orco’s contribution to the conference’s discussion was delivered by Despina Pilou and her presentation: The Translator and the Crowd: Collective Identities in the Modern Localisation Industry in which she contemplated on the translator role and the currently emerging, fluid translator identity, that encompasses a spectrum of technology advancements.

Orco is honored to be a member of the Elia Together community: a forum where all parties involved in the localization industry discuss and shape the future of language services.
